AB 001 – Thai Buddha

Size (L x W x H):
21 x 12 x 27 cm

Description:
The Thai Buddha is the Meditation Buddha ( Paang Nung Samadi ) in a sitting poise. It is a reminder of the classic posture of meditation. The hands resting in the lap, the right one is in the left. In this position, some mediators feel the body is receptive to energy entering through the top of the head through the open palms.

He is wearing a monk’s robe which covers both shoulders; he has the typical curls and the protuberance on top of his head, “ushnisha” which has flames atop to symbolize the fiery energy of his intellect. This attribute can be found since the late 13th century, with the beginning of the Sukhothai period.
