Kwan Im

KWAN IM

Size (L X W X H)

15 X 15 X 29 cm

Description :

Kwan Im spelled Quan or Kwan, is originally known as “Avolakiteswara”, meaning the Lord of regard. Kwan Im always hears the cries of the world and personifies the compassion of the Buddha for those in need.

She is perceived as the Goddess of Mercy. Her origin is disputable but possibly she is a Chinese Daoism deity which was later on supplanted by Mahayana Buddhism in the 5th century as a Buddhist deity.

In Tibetan Buddhism she is Tara, the Boddhisattva of compassion and action. Kwan Im is frequently worshipped as a patron for sailors and fishermen. In any case she devoted herself to free the world from suffering.
